To a simple definition, Democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. this implies that democracy is a system of government where the citizens of a particular geographical elects political leaders through election by voting them in power or in office to govern them with an effective constitution. Nigeria is a country located in west Africa, with so many tribes and languages, with an in predictable population. Nigeria was Amalgamated by the British colony. And on pulling out of the British rule, gained Independence on 1st October 1960. Since their Independence, their Democratic status has been in shambles        the political tussle is not to write home about. They have had several occasions of political elections but rather than conducting a free and fair election, after the whole process they manipulate the electoral results putting the citizens behind, which results to selection instead of election and violence.
